Tartu is the second-large town of Estonia. It is situated in southern part of Estonia, has a population of about 100.000 people and two universities with about 20.000 students in total.

The town is located near the fifth-largest lake in Europe (the Peipus or Peipsi Lake), but there are also many other smaller lakes and rivers in the vicinity, offering good opportunities for conference field trips. The Palaeozoic ostracod workers will have a chance of visiting the Ordovician and Silurian outcrops in the northern and western parts of the country, with excellently preserved fossils.

The meeting will be hosted by the University of Tartu and organised by the ostracodology group at the Department of Geology, Institute of Ecology and Earth Sciences, University of Tartu.
